Bookworm Wednesday: Audio Books

Welcome to the first post of my new monthly series, Bookworm Wednesday. This post celebrates some of my favorite audiobooks that accompanied me on my epic road trips last spring.

I Drink for a Reason: David Cross

Having lived in Eugene, Oregon, I find his abrasive attitude towards hippies completely hilarious (and somewhat appropriate, frankly).

Bossypants: Tina Fey

It is actually somewhat dangerous to drive while listening to Tina Fey because she'll make you laugh so hard you can't breathe. I loved learning about her early life and career. Not just funny, Fey also offers valuable insight on workplace attitudes. (Her bit on UVA guys is pretty accurate, too.)

Me Talk Pretty One Day: David Sedaris

If you've never had the pleasure of reading/hearing David Sedaris, this is the place to start. Me Talk Pretty One Day chronicles his life from childhood outcast to an awkward adult all from his unique, hysterical and neurotic perspective.

When You Are Engulfed in Flames: David Sedaris

By now you've figured out that I like to laugh on the road, so I've always got plenty of David Sedaris on hand. This book features his experiences in New York, France and Japan. On a more personal level, Sedaris also discusses his former drug use and subsequent recovery.

Simple Times: Amy Sedaris

An audio version of a craft book only makes sense if it's narrated by Amy Sedaris (David's sister). Her voices, characters and completely silly attitude were kinda perfect on the last stretch of road from West Virginia to Richmond.

  1. I bet that audio book of Amy Sedaris's book is hilarious! I haven't looked through Simple Times, though I did read her previous book on entertaining and found really funny. With her reading it though, I bet it's even better!

  2.  Yay yay yay we like the same books!  I've read nearly all of these :D

You have GOT to read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.  It's my new favorite book and I think it's right up your alley.

looking forward to hearing from you!
