Irene's Aftermath

I'm sure you all heard about the lil' hurricane that just swept up the east coast. Here are some shots of Irene's effects 'round my neck of the woods:

These last two photos were shot the day BEFORE Irene landed but I wanted you to see how moody the skies were.

Were you or your neighborhood affected by Irene?

  1. These pictures break my heart.  My area was severely affected by tornadoes at the end of April, and some places are STILL waiting for relief.  Some families are STILL living in RVs.  It's so sad.  I'm glad you were alright, though, definitely.  And these pictures make such an impact, I'm glad you shared them.

  2. honestly, Richmond was not so terribly affected, although many people were without power until yesterday, some still. I myself was very fortunate and I hope this post doesn't indicate any level of self-pity nor belittle the suffering of others (due to natural disasters)

  3. Nooo your post doesn't convey that at all.  It's good to see these.  I had no idea what kind of damage Irene had.

  4. Oh wow! My neighborhood was hit pretty hard. I was only without power for a day but most of my friends were out for 3+ days. The next town over got completely washed away!
