Ranch Romances

Today's post is named after these romance magazines from the 1950s and 60s I thrifted. My outfit channels the woman who might have been reading these lurid and anachronistic bodice-rippers...

Accordingly, I thought it appropriate to use the historic Dorris Ranch as my setting.

Founded in 1892 by George and Lulu Dorris, the ranch is the oldest continuously operating hazelnut (aka filbert) orchard in the country. Oregon's notable commercial hazelnut production began here. In addition to the 100 year old trees, the property also features historic buildings and machinery.

(Those are hazelnut trees in case you hadn't guessed.)

If you've never tried hazelnuts, you are really missing out. (I suggest Nutella, lawsuit notwithstanding.)

  1. I like the idea of being inspired by pulp magazines-- both the setting and outfit are a perfect fit. Looks like an amazing place to take photos, I LOVE the rusty tractor, the bench made out of a tree, the huge log you're sitting on... wish we had some quaint areas nearby!
